Youth MHFA Lite offers a 3 hour introduction to mental health issues relevant to young people.

It is a brand new addition to Youth Mental Health First Aid range of training. We are the first training company offering this course in the South West.

It is suitable for anyone who works with young people either in a public sector or a voluntary sector. It is also suitable for parents, carers, foster parents, teachers, youth workers, school support staff, boarding staff – simply anyone who teach, work, live with or care for young people aged 8 – 18 years.

First participants of YMHFA Lite in Devon – volunteers from NightStop Devon, a project of Community Housing Aid.

You will learn how to:

  1. Provide information, tools and techniques to promote a young person’s mental and emotional wellbeing.
  2. Support a young person who might be experiencing mental and emotional distress.
  3. Gain a wider understanding of some issues surrounding young people’s mental health.
  4. Work more effectively with young people living with mental health problems.

You’ll receive a Youth MHFA Lite manual that you can take away with you at the end of the course and receive a certificate from MHFA England.

Youth MHFA Lite identifies the discrimination surrounding mental health problems:

  1. It defines mental health and some mental health problems
  2. It helps you relate to young people’s experiences
  3. It helps support young people with mental health problems
  4. MHFA England has a proven track record and demonstrates its effectiveness through evaluation
